NM PreK

Lorena Garcia
NM PreK Lead Teacher
For the past eight years, I’ve loved building strong foundations for my students as a teacher at WHLC. My goal is to create a nurturing environment where children feel safe, excited to come to school, and eager to learn. I especially enjoy storytime and sharing laughs with my students—it’s the best part of my day! Originally, I planned to teach high school math, but God led me to early childhood education, and I’m grateful to be part of a Christ-centered community that supports students, families, and staff alike.
In the classroom, I focus on giving children the freedom to explore and grow within clear boundaries and expectations, while also fostering strong relationships with their families. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, going to the movies, and spending time with family and friends. Nothing brightens my day more than the sound of children’s laughter, and I try to approach life with a “😎 go with the flow” attitude!

Arely Gomez
NM PreK Assistant Assistant Teacher
Since 2021, I’ve had the joy of helping young children begin their school journey at WHLC. I first taught in our two- and three-year-old classrooms, and I now serve as an assistant teacher in our NM PreK program. It’s incredibly rewarding to see children grow in confidence as they master new skills, and I especially love watching my former students thrive as they move up through our school.
I was drawn to WHLC by its great environment and supportive team, and I feel blessed to be part of a community that encourages both personal and professional growth. In my teaching, I enjoy creating opportunities for kids to explore their senses—whether it’s experimenting with textures, engaging in hands-on play, or diving into art projects.
When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my kids, crafting, and decorating for parties. Seeing happy children always brings a smile to my face and motivates me in everything I do. To families considering WHLC, I’d say this is a wonderful place to start your child’s school experience, with all the support and care they need to succeed.
About NM Pre K
For our NM PreK 4-year-old class, we provide a warm, nurturing environment where little learners thrive through play and discovery. Our developmental-interaction approach is focused on school readiness with developmentally appropriate activities—like early literacy, counting, and creative exploration—so children build skills while enjoying hands-on learning. Kind, responsive teachers help each child develop confidence and social-emotional skills with gentle guidance.
